Kota the Friend – Oregon Lyrics

Oregon Lyrics

Oregon coast.
I hit a pub.
Shot a rum
And a henny and coke.
I saw man, 81 maybe 74.
Said wassup.
Got a beer, started making a toast.

I told him I was the road.
Working my ass off.
So one day I can kick back,
Sit and relax more.
He did a lil laugh
Now he laughing his ass off.
He leaned in slow bout to give me a crash course.

You wanna story son.
It aint long.
Wont last till the morning.
Come.
I know I look a lil ruff but
Im off the drugs.
Let me tell u bout my life
Wont cost ya non.
I said, shoot.

I was born in a small town.
Living was easy.
And nobody was needy
It was happiness all round.
My cousin would visit me from the city
And tell me about the wealthy and busy.

Bout the money and women and clubs,
Company dinners and drugs.
You can have a big house
Chef in the kitchen, wassup.

I was just simple and young.
Fishing and living it up
Did a lil work but I guess I just did what I want.

Anyway, I figured I would try out a new place.
And find me a good job.
Hustle and get paid.
Theres money to get made.

Grind goin into the night time.
A lil stressed out , marijuana and white wine.
Step by step on the ladder I climb up.
Wishin I was home, on a hike or a bike ride.
Its like

I was livin in the fast life. Gettin this cash right.
Noticing it came with a bad price.

5, 10, 20 years pass me by.
And that grind shit ran me dry.
I made m’s , in the field I was in so it felt like time.
To retire and kick back and relax my mind.

And so I moved to a small town ,
Living was easy.
Wasnt nobody needy, there was happiness al round.

Now I was simple and old.
Thinking this living was low.
Just to come right back to a familiar home.

Aint it a trip though.
I coulda been livin like this though.
Lakehouse good as it get though.
Before you hit the road.
Make sure that what you covet is better than what you own.
Just wanted to let you know.
